Anna’s Persian Torah Pointer
$270.00 – $390.00
Description
Our Yad Torah Pointers are created by artist Tamra Mottl. Inspired by the intricate interlocking designs found in early illustrated Torah manuscripts, she hand-casts each torah pointer from heavy twigs she discovered on her woodland walks, ensuring that every piece is slightly different and unique.
The Yad is a pointer used to read the Torah and usually ends up in the shape of a closed hand with the index finger extended. While the origin of the Torah pointer is unknown, some sources say it dates back to the year 130 during the third Jewish war. In our design, there is a striking contrast between the highly ornamented top and the smooth shaft.
All items are enclosed in 100% boiled wool keeps. A gift box with a sterling silver Forgotten Judaica button and card are included.
